At this rate, Australian women will wait 101 years
At this rate, Australian women will wait 101 years for gender equality because of longstanding inequality in unpaid work: @livefinancy #womensindex

Check out Financy.com.au for our findings

On this #iwd2021 we need to ask ourselves how much are we doing for free? And how much is unpaid work impacting our capacity to reach our potential? And has #covid_19 affected this and resulted in a greater imbalance at home and work?

The average woman spends 35 hours a week in unpaid work versus 27 for men. The disparity is even greater when we look at couples with children.

For some of us, this disparity is difficult to change and some of us may not even want to. But if the time comes, and for many women it does, why is your capacity like to do more for yourself particularly in a financial sense?

Today we #choosetochallenge on unpaid work.

My unpaid housework. Yes I’m sexing it up here with a bit of leg but it’s not pretty, I rarely enjoy doing the washing, cooking, taking out the trash and I don’t iron - so don’t really dress up for the occasion.

The next Financy Women’s Index will tell you just how long we are likely to wait to see equality in unpaid work.

Anyone prepared to guess?
