Childcare and afterschool care costs can be expensive, but with an increasing number of employers offering flexibile arrangements, working from home can be one way to save money by cutting back on fees.

While this isn’t as easy as it sounds, especially when you have young kids and little out-side support, it is still possible to be productive through planning, routine and understanding your child.

Here are my top five tips to make working from home more successful for you.

1. Enlist support 2. Have a schedule for the day 3. Clock on and clock off 4. Work next to your kids. 5. Set up play stations

2. Have a schedule for the day. Breaking the day into 30 minute blocks between activities, meals, naps (the kids…not you) and work helps keep the day interesting for the kids and allows them (and you) to have time together as well independent play time while you work. Make the most of nap times by making those important calls and being as productive as possible.
