There are two things in short supply at the moment – timber frames for building houses and a government plan to address gender inequalities in Australia. Here are Seven ways the government can address gender inequalities with a holistic approach to action. Love to hear your thoughts. 1. Education: Employers to provide workplace flexibility that encourages and supports equal access to education study days or hours, or opportunity to undertake employer-supported formal or non-formal training related to career development. 2. Leadership: Equal representation of women in leadership positions in workplaces and across all tiers of government. Equal is defined as being greater than 40 per cent. 3. Unpaid work: Flexible work arrangements for parents or carers regardless of gender. A workplace culture that can demonstrate family-friendly policies for both men and women, as well as rewarding and recognising employees doing above and beyond paid work hours to help a business succeed. 4. Superannuation: Employer Super Guarantee to be paid on government parental leave regardless of gender, and incentives for employer’s parental leave to include paid super. 5. Income: Equal pay reporting of like-for-like roles for all employees and contractors. 6. Underemployment: A workplace culture that seeks to first promote from within its ranks without gender bias or discrimination. 7. Employment: Zero tolerance for gender discrimination or violence against women in the workplace; equal representation of women and men in full-time positions (equal defined as being greater than 40 per cent); and a government commitment to supporting women-owned businesses through procurement initiatives. #genderequality #equality #genderpaygap #womenandmoney #professionalwomen
