My year review for women: #covid_19, gender employment inequality, rising domestic violence against women, rising unpaid work, raids on superannuation despite gender gap, declining birth and marriage rate, less female ceos in Australia, highest paid person is a woman, Free childcare, no free childcare, women on boards increases, less women enrol in studies after high school, more enrol in IT studies, more women’s money platforms launched, products becoming more targeted and yet gender lens and policy is still a niche area. Mental health support services report being under resources And despite it all women are feeling more optimistic than men - yet not many of us remember being surveyed for that report! #financy #womensindex

In this #financy article we look at the Kardashian empire and ask if the advancement of women in the same as achieving financial equality? Has @kimkardashian set an example of what women can achieve or exploited our insecurities and set us back a century?

I’d say the Kardashian empire has advanced women because of the savvy of their business model and freedom in making it work their way. In this Financy article (link in bio) there is optimism and caution for women because of #COVID-19. Improved female jobs growth, which was harder hit compared to male by the onset of the pandemic and government shutdowns in March of this year, coupled with a fresh high in female ASX 200 board appointments and a narrowing of the gender gap in the underemployment rate, helped to push women’s progress higher in the September quarter.

Whilst this result gives us more reason to feel slightly better as we approach the end of 2020, the situation remains volatile and time will tell if COVID-19 has short or long-term impacts on women’s financial progress and equality.

“There can be No doubt that COVID-19 has placed
“There can be No doubt that COVID-19 has placed a greater burden on women in myriad ways," says economist Nicki Hutley. The latest Financy Women's Index shows Australian women are making financial progress despite facing numerous gender inequalities and the early setback in job cuts relative to men at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Whoa! Another big report nearly complete tracking women’s financial progress and timeframe to economic equality. It’s been a volatile period and only time will tell whether what we have seen in terms of impacts will be short term or painful scars of life in a pandemic.
